YOUTH VENTURE TRUST

The Youth Venture Trust is committed to developing and expanding the educational and sociological experience of Young People and help them make positive changes to their lives.

Email: youthventuretrust@gmail.com

Our early intervention in their personal growth processes results in individuals with far more positively balanced outlooks, benefiting their communities enormously. We work in partnership with Glantawe Outdoor Education Academy in Pontardawe see the website www.arenapontardawe.com.

The Trust’s work is founded on the belief that giving young people trust and responsibility in a supportive and non-threatening atmosphere promotes their sense of well-being through achievement within a peer group environment.

This is accomplished by providing challenging, meaningful, both physical and mentally demanding projects that include strong and genuine environmental or sociological facets. This in turn promotes the material, intellectual and spiritual development of the young people together with environmental awareness, so as to develop their full capacities and enable them to become responsible members of society.

The projects are normally in unfamiliar territory and environments, with similar but unknown Young People - away from each individual’s familiar terms of reference, reducing media and social pressures to enhance the effectiveness of the experiences, within practical restrictions we would endeavour to take the Young People to locations as remote and strange as possible. This would include contact within peoples of dissimilar ethnicity, and include authentic community work or precious environmental projects within those cultures.

The Trust is currently working to increase its fundraising profile with the stated aim of founding an Outdoor Education Academy within the South Wales Area, and are actively seeking a prime fundraiser who will be instrumental in the success of this venture.

The initial phase will see the recruitment of a Fundraising Manager who will provide the means of acheiving Phase Two and beyond. This fulfilling and fascinating post will need a committed individual with a passion both for young people and outdoor education. This is not a short-term commitment, and although voluntary in the very short term, will be well-rewarded as the project matures. It is also envisaged that the post may become residential if appropriate and would certainly be of interest for a mature experienced individual who seeks an opportunity to make a real difference to their own and other's lives.

Phase Two will see the purchase and development of a suitable rural property that can be developed as an educational centre.

Phase Three will see the property develop into a residential and day centre for young people to work and play in the outdoors

Phase Four will see the founding of an Academy that will bring challenged young people together and provide an alternative to mainstream education through to university placement.

All contributions received are employed in their entirety within our Projects – maximising the benefit to the Young People we seek to support.
