LLAW - AoFAQ Level 3 National Certificate in Lowland and Moorland Expedition Leadership - Open moorland defined as within unbounded areas not requiring special skills and in low risk weather conditions.

Suitably qualified applicants can apply to run their own courses under supervision - send for details.

The LLAW Lowland and Moorland Leader Award has successfully run over the past five years across 4 local authorities in South Wales with a substantial and growing following in the Outdoor Community.

I'm quite ridiculously please to announce that as from August 2012 the accreditation and due diligence for this course was provided by AoFAQ - an Ofqual accredited body - and is now known as the Level 3 National Certificate in Lowland and Moorland Expedition Leadership.

This will provide the underpinning knowledge for DofE Leaders in the provision of Bronze, Silver and Gold Expeditions.

Hard and soft skill set
- Includes Expedition Organisation and Management with Teaching Outdoor Skills where you need to - Outdoors
- Includes solid Hard Skills—Navigation/ Group Management/Emergency Protocols.
- Robust and effective assessment protocols
- Direct outdoor training for at least 50% of the course

The LLAW Outdoor Leader Awards provides robust outdoor skills to organise and supervise Duke of Edinburgh Award groups from Bronze through to Silver and Gold.

The course is ideal for Teachers, DofE Leaders, walking groups and others who intend taking groups into lowland areas, with opportunities for personal growth and development to LLAW Level 2 - Open Moorland Supervision.

The commitment is 96 hours of tutor contact time including night navigaation session, a two night expedition and assessment. During the course the candidates are expected to log 32 hours of learning consolidation events where they apply their learning in practical situations. Reflective/Module assessment logs provide evidence of learning and progression through learning pathways..
